Image as marked. Fantastic news today, W Magazine’s former style director is now the Editor-in-chief of British Vogue. With the resignation of the power house and genius that is Alexandra Shulman from her role as Vogue's Editor in Chief back in January, we all where left initially quite bereft and saddened at our impending loss particularly following the passing of Italian Vogue Chief Editor Franca Sozzani. Imagining Alexandra's departure just seemed too much to take in. However this announcement started the great debate as to who would take Alexandra Shulman's place. Debate no more my friends as we have the answer today : Edward Enninful. Born in Ghana to a family of six and brought to Britain as a child, eventually becoming a British citizen. Youngest fashion director in history at i-D aged 19. Now aged 45, OBE to the Queen 2016. Awarded Isabella Blow Award for fashion creator of the year 2014. Fashion director W Magazine. Genius stylist, notably working with the great Franca Sozzani on her famous all black vogue Italia covers and contributor to American Vogue. I first encountered him as a person rather than as a photo or name in the Documentary " Vogue The September issue " Where he came across to me as rather very shy and soft spoken, definitely not very "fashion" at all(yes in a five minute clip i came up with all of that, how ignorant i was). I wondered how he ever survived working with Anna Wintour, and in the reputed "brutal" world of fashion in general. clearly a fearless genius with the mildest demeanor or so it appeared to me. Quoting Jonathan Newhouse, the chairman and chief executive for Condé Nast International. “Edward is one of the most talented and accomplished fashion editors in the world” and “supremely prepared to assume the responsibility of British Vogue.” We at Maisonarchives.com are incredibly happy to welcome the news of his appointment, Edward Enninful has today made history, we are very proud of the Condé Nast International team's clear judgement , choosing talent above all else. In an industry that is notoriously exclusive, with some fashion houses still struggling to put people of color on their runway talk-less of advertorials, today's barrier breaking choice is beyond imagination. To the new E-I-C, first male, first black E-I-C of British Vogue Mr Edward Enninful, we salute you. Alexandra Shulman we salute you as we are reassured by today's event that your sound foundation, vision and legacy will live on... To making history... Hip hip hooray Judith Agwada-Akeru

A new begining.......Sitting in my kitchen all by myself on my godzillionth cup of Coffee of the day, I just wonder what you my friends are up to.
Seeing that it's New Year's Eve ..phew finally the year is ending, I bet most people will be contemplating the last year, either critically assessing , making plans or resolutions for the new year or just planning outfits for tonight... As for me, I am just thankful for all that the year has brought into our lives. The good, bad, sad and pleasant events. Even more I am thankful for new directions. If you have been with us from the beginning, you would notice that today we are now Maison Archives-A stylists tale. I started this journey wanting to share my struggles as a full time mum of four who is also a specialist Medical registrar working full time. How at night when I am neither on call or my babes are asleep, I would escape into the world of fashion , to save my sanity... A world where geniuses , past and present like Alexander McQueen, Yves St Laurent, Alessandro Michele, Marco De Vincenzo , Karl Lagerfield, Paco Rabanne rule and Anna Wintour is the boss. A world where style is a common language and we are all equal and stress is a fuel for creativity. A place where I can be myself and be completely happy. As more of you visited , I realised that I was exposing my family without my little ones informed consent. Essentially putting their private life on the internet. In view of this , Maison Archives-a stylists tale was created as a platform for me to continue to share with your support my work as a stylist, merchandiser and writer. To be honest, I have no idea what this would lead to , but I am happy for the pleasure writing about fashion gives me. My family is everything to me, being a doctor means the world to me, I am simply lucky to have many layers to my life... So to all of you helping me keep my sanity, thank you and welcome again to my circus .. Hip hip hooray 🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🍾 |
