New York New York!
What a city to behold!
If you're reading this then I am almost certain that in the last few days 06/09 to 14/09 to be exact you've simply been functioning on NY time zone.
For the civilian reading this and wondering what I'm on about again, well...
Because my friend, Anna Wintour is on NY Time zone! (as always I know but for the purpose of drama just play along )
Swiftly moving on, NYFW often in my book is the money show, featuring viable pieces that consumers will guzzle hence enriching the pockets of the likes of Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein etc
To make matters worse, historically the street fashion commonly seen in NY has been known to induce gradual loss of neurons( Brain cells) eventually resulting in a comatose state from profound boredom. If the truth be told this is often welcomed by the said spectator as New Yorkers maintain a fashion etiquette only understood by them- Flip flops, bucket hats to say the least.
However, all that aside, as always I get really excited about New York because it means another chance to experience what I like to call the MJ spectacle as in the Grand master of design; Marc Jacobs. The 'GRAND' in grand finale of the season.
Obviously before the finale, the season has to start -so here we go.
I sat holding my breath as this show started expecting Mr Ford to represent as in the past, my simple take on this showing is that as a good business man, Mr Ford rehashed solid classics. in one sentence if it ain't broke don't fix it!
In simple terms, if Phoebe Philo had a child with Demna, her name would be TheRow.
Fantastic fantastic wearable classic pieces. All pieces designed with the brands DNA clearly ingrained yet fresh and still somehow new!
Knowing me and my inclination towards vintage and Nouveau vintage you will be forgiven for immediately assuming I would be drawn to this brand.
Simply put, If The Vampire's wife designed for the younger Notting hill crew this would be it. Think Sienna Miller and Lilly Allen out on a Friday night with other arty friends.
In other news, forget Rixo this is the brand of SS19
Liz Hurley comes to mind while looking at this collection.
Slits are sky high but chic, the trend of mixing Luxe with utility is clearly not going anywhere. Loved the use of ethnic Nigerian dyed faric in the collection.
Simply put, a fusion of classic established styles.
Stuart Vevers has definitely proven himself to be a messiah at Coach with yet another stellar collection.
This one featured a beautiful fusion of classic styles. An all American collection with a predominantly wild wild western influence plus some Navajo essence thrown in for measures.
A very aesthetically pleasing collection indeed.
Now you've heard it all, From the industry Legend, to the innovators to the Renegades but no article on this fashion week gone can be completed without mentioning 'The Marc Jacobs Show'. The one that reputedly kept Anna Wintour waiting for x hours.....
Yes that one!
The one I want to call the curtain closer, grand finale of this years NYFW SS19.
What can I say? It is everything plus more and definitely worth waiting for.
Boy is MJ inherently late or what, but ever such a genius!!!
So much to talk about, so little time.
Darling the only trend this year is recycling/ upcycling/undercycling!!! Lots of rehashing of old classics. As the saying goes again, if it ain't broke.........
Thank you for stopping by, next stop London fashion week SS19 14-17/09. Stay tuned for all the juice.
